Animal Radio Forum: Dogtime's Road to Rescues Radio: About the host  Leslie Smith has always been a dog lover and a writer. She grew up in Overland Park, Kansas, with two Cocker Spaniels, a pen, and a notebook constantly at her side. She attended UCLA and moved north to San Francisco soon after graduating. During the Internet boom, Leslie worked as a writer for several start-ups before settling into the corporate retail world. For many years she wrote advertising copy for Old Navy marketing, while in her spare time, volunteered with the SFSPCA and Give a Dog a Bone (a quality-of-life program affiliated with San Francisco Animal Care and Control). In time, Leslie began to realize that canines were vastly more important than cargo pants. She cut her hours down to three days a week so that she could volunteer two full days a week at the shelter. When she heard about Dogtime, she leaped at the chance to combine her two lifelong passions: writing and animals. She is now the Senior Editor at Dogtime.com. Leslie lives with her husband Mike and her adopted Doberman mix, Uno.
