IAMS Pet Food RecalledThiamine Deficiency to Blame
(Animal Radio® Newsroom June 14, 2010) A voluntary recall of Iams cat food was announced by parent company Proctor and Gamble on June 9th. Products affected are all varieties of Iams ProActive Health canned food for cats and kittens in 3 and 5.5 ounce cans with expirations dates of Sept. 2011 to June 2012 printed on the bottom. The company initiated the voluntary recall after tests found insufficient levels of Thiamine or B1. The vitamin is essential to support the health of the central nervous system. The Facts:
Loss of appetite Weakness Tremors Seizures Downward curving of the neck

VICKI: Thank you for your recall. However, I was disappointed to learn about this recall. I have a diabetic cat who is quite finicky and really does well with the Iams canned food.
